The Lord is near the brokenhearted; he delivers those who are discouraged. Psalm 34:18
The cold water washed away the sand collected on my blue painted toes. I walked gently in the ankle deep water and heard the crashing of the waves behind me. Looking for the prettiest and most beautiful shells and leaving the others to sink into the wet ocean sand. “It’s perfect!” I exclaimed, as my 11-year-old brother held up one of the softest colored shell my “Indiana born” blue eyes had ever seen. Then as I tip toed through the crisp waters, a light gleamed and sparkled from below the surface. Touching the wet sand as the waters receded I grabbed this thing that caught my gaze. It was cracked on the edges and broken on the inside but it was so beautiful. The thought came to me as I walked on, that even broken shells are beautiful. Maybe God brought that thought to my mind, maybe He wanted me to know that even in brokenness there is beauty.
Then, I was searching for the broken ones, looking beneath the water’s surface – my eyes seeing with a different kind of light. Isn’t it amazing how we think, “I’m in a million little pieces, He will never want me now.” Yet in all reality that is all He wants.
You…all God wants is YOU. Me…all God wants is me.
His love makes the broken whole again and from His healing comes beauty. Friends, I don’t know where you are. I’m not sure what you’re facing today or the brokenness that surfaces to the top of your mind as your eyes read this. God knows, though, and He has a beautiful plan for the broken.
Stay encouraged dear one, you are so beautiful.
