The thought came to me this month to write a post for all my single girls out there. I realize we are so close to the holidays ending but this post can live on through new years and the rest of 2017.
This season is wonderful and so beautiful but we can sometimes get lost in what we are missing rather than what we have. I’ve seen the twinning pajama couples on social media, the cute engagement sessions, and coffee shop couples. It’s so sweet and special and it’s easy to think, why can’t I have that? Why don’t I have that? Believe me, I know these things.
This wonderful season can kind of look like snow turning into rain. It’s so beautiful at first: the decorations begin to come out, you’re posting EVERY Christmas related thing on Pinterest and its newness is so wonderful that you fantasize over what the season will hold and how it will play out. Then as you are waiting for its arrival, you notice that almost everyone else around you is under the mistletoe or posting their Christmas card photo ideas and the joy begins to melt into a soreness for how lonely you are.
—–Feeling that way helps in no way except increase Ben & Jerry’s ice cream sales.
You are beautiful and there is no reason why you can’t only get through the holidays but you CAN enjoy them. I’ve walked this seasonal road a few times to know and this year I wasn’t going to let it bother me.
I believe in God’s perfect plan for my life so why would I want to encourage something that is not in that plan. Girls listen: Have a pajama party with your friends, order a fancy seasonal drink at a coffee shop and read something that you love, go see a play, make some cookies, shop till you drop and enjoy these things. You can invite some friends to go along or go alone, which sometimes I don’t mind doing, really. Don’t forget to spend some extra time with your loved ones, too. No matter where life takes you, single or not, family is exceptionally important.
The other day I walked in a restaurant and said “table for one” and felt great about it, you can too! Let me just add that Jesus IS enough for you and me. Draw closer to Him while you’re waiting for the one that He is preparing for you.
God delights in spending time with you, He can complete you, if you’ll only let Him. I’m so glad I did.
From one single pringle to another, xoxo
Elena
Only 2 more sleeps till Christmas Eve! Crazy right? 2016 is coming to an end, some of us are over here praising and some are wishing to still live in the moment of this year. I’m personally somewhere in the middle. We are taking a week off from posting to enjoy the holidays and we hope you all have the best Christmas and New Years!
