It was a beautiful day in Wisconsin. Sunny, yet not too hot. Fresh air breezy, but not too cold. Our concert tour had taken us many places in this state of farmland and cheese. We had been privileged to sing with some other musician friends in an effort to raise money for widows in India. Now, it was Monday. We were sharing the day with them and making an effort to relax.
We ladies decided to take a walk. My one friend, Nancy was pushing her grandchildren in a stroller. Walking along we laughed and shared together. My other friend Kathy had been holding her little grandson, Chevy’s hand. As happens with walking and the variances in the path, Kathy let go of his hand and was walking a little behind the stroller.
Chevy reached his hand out over the side and when Kathy moved up to take hold again he said, “I need to hold your hand.” Those words grabbed my heartstrings and fell right into my spirit. As Chevy looked to Kathy for that warmth and assurance, this is my greatest need – every day! “Heavenly Father, I need to hold Your hand!”
The amazing fact is that no matter the variance of the path, He will never let go. As long as our choice is to place our little hand in His great big one, His grip will be steady and strong. His hand will hold.
“O, Lord, I need YOU now more than ever!” We can look with assurance into an unknown future and whisper, “Father, God, I need to hold Your hand.”
