Jolted ungraciously from my sleep the open window granted me the privilege of hearing the eerie sound. High pitched yips and howls – sort of like dogs – yet a sound all its own. Intense. The next instant consciousness gave way to fear. “The puppy.” I whispered. “The puppy!” I said louder. Then, I was out of bed and yelling down the stairs to my son. “Vincent! They’re after your puppy! The coyotes are after your puppy!”
Even while he bolted out the door to its rescue, my husband and I could hear those coyotes. They were getting closer, closing in. They knew they had a helpless victim. But not anymore! His protector was there in an instant – and they had no more reason to keep up the hunt.
Serving Jesus in the day we’re living can sometimes leave us surrounded by oppression and spiritual warfare. Sometimes we call out, “Lord, help!” Don’t lose hope! Don’t lose faith! We have a PROTECTOR! He is all powerful! He will never leave us! He is our Light in the Darkness! Our Shelter and Guide, and under HIS wings we can trust. NOTHING can separate us from His love. When we make Him our hiding place – we are safe!!!
When you feel like things are closing in . . . “Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” Trust your PROTECTOR – Jesus Christ. He fought and won on Calvary for you!
O, thank You, Jesus! Thank you for being our Refuge, our Shelter, our Savior, and our PROCTECTOR!
“O God, listen to my cry! Hear my prayer! From the ends of the earth,
I cry to you for help when my heart is overwhelmed.
Lead me to the towering rock of safety, for you are my safe refuge,
A fortress where my enemies cannot reach me. Let me live
Forever in your sanctuary, safe beneath the shelter of your wings!”
