Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and you will delight in the richest of fare.
3 Give ear and come to me;
listen, that you may live.
I will make an everlasting covenant with you,
my faithful love promised to David.
Why spend good money and hard work on something that will please you for a second? Remember going to the fair and getting that fresh hot pink cotton candy only to eat it in about a minute? I sure do. Let’s relate this to our time. What do we spend our time on? Things that satisfy or things that leave you waiting for something more.
For example: Such as shows or series that get to the last scene and it ends with the dreaded words “to be continued”. We are left then with questions about what may happen next.
Looking for satisfaction in other places or people will result in uncertainties.
I love the next few verses though…”Listen carefully to me and eat only the best. Let your soul delight in abundance. Come to me and listen to my life-giving, life- nourishing words.” I love that. Only God can give real life and continued nourishment.
Looking for satisfaction in other places or people will result in utter disappointment.
His promises declare an everlasting commitment to us.
Sure. Solid. Enduring Love, just as was promised to David.
I have it all if I have Jesus and my heart races with praise to have Him as the keeper of my soul.
With Love Always, Elena
